Lactation Support

How do we support Breastfeeding?
At Recovery Lounge & Spa, we combine Lymphatic Drainage for moms & CranioSacral Therapy for babies to address the physiological aspects of many breastfeeding challenges.
When nursing parents come to us with engorgement, pain with feeding, recurring clogged ducts, recurring mastitis, or low milk supply, we take a holistic approach offering support for both mom and baby to help alleviate many breastfeeding challenges.
For mom, we offer Lymphatic Drainage, PEMF Therapy, and Red Light Therapy to help relieve lymphatic blockages. For babies, we offer CranioSacral Therapy to release soft tissue restrictions in the nervous system that impact organization at the breast, latch & tongue function, & tension throughout the body contributing to painful nursing, poor transfer, fussiness & low milk supply.
Our founder & Spa Director Amanda Glenn, has been a Lactation Educator & CranioSacral Therapist specializing in infants with feeding challenges in the Denver Metro Area for over 20 years. She consults with local experts to help resolve breastfeeding challenges that are structural in nature and improved feeding outcomes for both mom and baby.
Our comprehensive integrative approach releases stress and tension for both mom and baby (dad too!) creating a more confident & joyful breastfeeding experience for the entire family.

How do I know if my baby has body tension?

- Nursing Better on one Side than the Other
- Stiffness & Back Arching
- Tucked Lips when Feeding
- Recessed Jaw

- Clenched Hands or Fists
Tension throughout the body and in the soft tissues of the nervous system can cause a wide variety of feeding challenges. We address the root of the tension so baby can eat with more ease and efficiency.
Is it a Tongue-Tie or Body Tension?
“Tongue-tie” is a thick frenulum that connects the tongue to the floor of the mouth and limits tongue function. This thickening of the frenulum is a midline deviation that happens early in embryonic development. Tongue-Tie is the most common sign of midline body tension because it is the earliest & most evident sign of tension in babies. Rarely however is “tongue-tie” the sole cause of feeding challenges and rarely does treating tongue-tie alone, resolve tension that is visible throughout the entire body.
In 2009 our Founder, expert CranioSacral Therapist Amanda Glenn, spoke on a panel for the Colorado Breastfeeding Coalition along side Occupational Therapists, Pediatric Dentists, & the Feeding Intervention Team from Children’s Hospital to share how Cranial Nerve Impingement can look like “Tongue-Tie” but doesn’t fully resolve from a Medical Tongue-Tie procedure.
Amanda works along side your Lactation Consultant, Pediatrician, and/or Pediatric Dentists to help assess if Cranial Nerve Impingements or Tension in the overall structures of the body need to be addressed prior to a tongue-tie release to improve overall feeding outcomes.
I'm planning a tongue-tie release, how should I prepare?
For Families Planning a Tongue-Tie Release:
We recommend:
Step 1. Come in for an Initial Consultation with Amanda Glenn. During this visit she will assess your baby’s body tension and tongue function to help you understand why your baby is struggling to eat. She will explain options to address these challenges, explain the pros and cons of each approach, and work with you to develop a custom recommendation for your family.
Receiving CranioSacral Therapy prior to a baby’s tongue-tie release is a comprehensive approach that offers improves overall outcomes while offering the lowest level of intervention first, which is the Gold Standard in Pediatric Medicine.
Do you always recommend a tongue-tie release?
For Families who want to Avoid a Tongue-Tie Release:
We trust parents to make good decisions for their baby and support you during the decision-making process. When parents would like to avoid having their baby’s tongue-tie or tethered oral tissues released, we recommend 3-5 sessions of mouth & bodywork for the infant while taking a watch and wait approach.
During this time, we carefully monitor your baby’s weight gain and your milk supply as well as the family’s mental health to make sure your baby is growing, your milk supply is strong and your family is thriving. If we notice red flags in any of these three areas, we will share our concerns with you so you can incorporate that information into your decision-making process.
There are so many different avenues of body work for babies. How do I know which professional to choose?
Amanda Glenn is a CranioSacral practitioner who has specialized in working with infants with feeding challenges for over 20 years.
Our Lymphatic Drainage Specialists have specific training in lymphatic drainage for lactation and breastfeeding.
We have supported 100’s of families by creating creating individualized plans that address the needs of both the nursing parent and the baby. this includes referrals to knowledgeable PTs, OTs, Webster Certified Chiropractors, Pediatric Dentists, ENTs, Osteopaths, Pediatricians, and other experts as needed.
We are here to help you, guide you, and care for your family during this sensitive time.
How is CranioSacral Therapy different than chiropractic or PT?
We have broken each therapy in several categories to help understand each:

Raves from our clients
“Amanda has helped so much with our baby’s tension after his tongue tie revision. His latch continues to improve and he is noticeably calmer overall. She’s a baby whisperer and excellent at her craft!”
“My child has been doing so so well since he saw the Recovery team. He’s now eating like crazy (after a month of barely eating anything), he’s clicking his tongue nonstop which he stopped doing months ago, and he started saying “b” sound words which he has been unable to do. Huge huge improvement.”
“I want to sing Recovery Lounge & Spa’s praise! I went home and my baby seemed hungry, I thought I would just give it a shot to latch him and HE DID. I am so happy we saw you.”
