Lymphatic Drainage
for Pregnancy, Lactation, & Post-Birth

Understand The Benefits

Lymphatic Drainage
Lymphatic Drainage is a light soothing, rhythmic, hand-compression massage over areas of the body with lymph nodes. Lymphatic drainage helps decrease swelling, has soothing & pain relieving effects, improves sleep & anxiety, as well as helps boost immune function.
Lymphatic Health & Pregnancy
During pregnancy, the body produces approximately 50% more blood and bodily fluids in order to meet the needs of a developing baby. Swelling is a normal part of pregnancy, caused by this increase of blood and fluid. Many pregnant women find extra swelling in their legs, hands, feet, and lower body. In addition, the weight of the growing baby can press on the pelvic veins and compress pelvic lymph nodes, causing excess swelling in the lower body.
Swelling & Edema After Childbirth
During pregnancy, our organs move to create space for the baby and during childbirth we often receive additional IV fluids. After birth, our organs can remain displaced creating blockages in the lymphatic system. Working with a skilled practitioner helps to process excess fluids from pregnancy & labor, encourage organs back into place, and restore lymphatic flow.
Lymph & Lactation
Engorgement, Mastitis & Clogged Ducts
The lymphatic system and mammary tissue are highly integrated in the body. During lactation, the lymph nodes of the breast can become enlarged, inflamed and painful. According to the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine’s protocol #36 for treating the Mastis Specturm, Lymphatic Drainage can help alleviate breast engorgement and prevent clogs by improving healthy lymphatic flow and manually improving the drainage system of the breast.
